The cricket world cup started on 05/30 in England and Wales. This year the format for the tournament has changed from the 4 groups, super 8's semifinals and finals to a round robin format.
In this year's tournament, the format is round robin, where every team will play every other team and the top 4 teams will battle it out in the semis. This makes the tournament more interesting as the fight will be between all the teams and they all have an equal chance of making it through the top 4.
Here are my picks for the top 4 this year:
Update 1: 2 of my wildcards have already failed to qualify. India has qualified for the Semi-Finals on the basis of their win against Bangladesh on 07/02, Australia is the other team that has made it to the Semis. Bangladesh and West Indies's campaigns are now over
Update 2: 3rd July 2019 - England has qualified for the top 4 and the Semi-Finals for the first time since 1992. My prediction rate has been 50% with 2 of my teams progressing and both my wildcards crashing out of the tournament.
Update 3: 11th July 2019 - India is out of the World Cup after losing to NZ by 18 runs. England has also kicked Australia out of the World Cup to qualify for the finals for the first time in 27 years. Now for the first time since 1987 we have two teams in the final who have never won the world cup before. ENGLAND v NEW ZEALAND - it will be a cracker of a contest.

I feel that this world cup more than others has an opportunity to throw more surprises than the previous world cups. The round-robin format can throw up more than a few unexpected results based off which team is performing well on its given day.
