Simmba - An out & out Ranveer film

Simmba (2018) - This is the continuation of the Rohit Shetty police series juggernaut that he embarked on with Singham (2011) and Singham Returns (2014). Simmba continues in the same vein.

The premise of the movie is heavily derived from the Telugu movie Temper (2015). Ranveer Singh plays a corrupt cop - Sanghram Bhalerao a.k.a Simmba.

He has joined the police force to earn a quick buck and is willing to assist with criminals to make a quick moolah. How Simmba changes and becomes a good person forms the gist of the story.

Ranveer Singh knocks the role out of the park which his performance as Simmba. Every moment that he’s on screen he owns the space. Be it his comic timing, dialogue delivery, or acting, or dancing. Ranveer is comfortable and carries the movie on his shoulders unfalteringly.

Sara Khan does not have a lot to do in the movie as Simmba’s love interest - Shagun. She looks good and graceful whenever she appears on the screen but her scope is limited.

Ashutosh Rana & Siddharth Jadhav are good in their supporting roles. Sonu Sood seen in a meaty role as Durva Ranade gives a nice performance, he’s believable as the brother who turns a blind eye to his younger brothers misdeeds and gives them all the freedom in the world.

Ajay Devgn does a cameo as Bajirao Singham and is well received in his role.

Overall the movie is a great watch, it is a typical Rohit Shetty movie, the songs are not much but the background score rocks and the mix between the Singham and Simmba soundtracks is amazing.
