Itz Entertainment!!!

Comedies are supposed to be fun, easy on the mind and capable of leaving you chucking in remembrance - originally. These days comedies are vulgar, cheap, slapstick and sleazy. Most of the times instead of chuckling, the leave your cringing in embarrassment of the shenanigans happening on the screen. The case in point is Humshakals, whoever thought that dressing Ram Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in drag is comedy ought to be shot or made to watch the aforementioned movie in a loop forever....

So it was with trepidation that I sat before the screen and started watching Entertainment - starring Akshay Kumar, Krushna Abhishek and Tamannah Bhatia.. I was ready to get up and walk out with the first crass and sleazy joke, I waited.... then OMG I chuckled... then I laughed and then I laughed uproaringly, and finally, finally I felt happy that I had found a movie which was staying true to the tenents of comedy and not over indulging at the viewers expense.

I would not like to go into the story line of the movie, whatever little that there is in the movie, but rather more on the characterization of each personality that the actors play, Akshay Kumar proves that he has retained his comic timings in spite of movies like Boss. He plays Akhil Lokhande a down on his luck commoner. He is a quirky motor mouth who has a response to every query... some of the gems delivered by Akshay Kumar as Akhil goes like this,

Person (P):

There are many such quips which bring a chuckle out of you. Assisting Akshay in his funny endeavors are Krushna Abhishek who plays a Video Store owner which a penchant for incorporating films stars name in day to day saying like when he says to Akhil: कहाँ चल दिए सोनाक्षी सिन्हा तान के or when he says: I Rajni-can't believe this... and Johny Lever who plays a lawyer named Habibullah who is protective of his name and its pronunciation. One scene which comes to mind is when Akshay poisons a bowl of milk and Johny picks it for drinking by mistake, Akshay screams Zehrila (meaning poisonous) and Johny misinterpreting it screams back Habibullah... There are many such moments in the film.

The story generally does not make much sense, but you have the regular eye candy in the form of Tamannah Bhatia and angsty father Mithun Chakraborthy. Villains looking for a piece of action Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood.

In general Entertainment is a satire on all the plot driven hindi cinemas made till date be it a Soap actress playing Tamannah who mouths Ekta Kapoor serial dialogues at the drop of a hat or the Karan Arjun music playing in the background when the villianous brothers duo of Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood come on screen and are engaged in any dispute. Entertainment takes it pot shots at every formula movie ever made in Hindi cinema.

If you have nothing to do on a lazy weekend and are looking for some good quality entertainment I would recommend taking a look at Entertainment - It's worth a dekko!!!!
