Cricket Frenzy

4 years have passed by. It's time again. The shattered and buried ambitions of a billion plus nation is awake again. The nation is on the tenterhooks and we are dreaming again, we are hoping again and we have started with the jingles again.....

WORLD CUP

2 words determine the mood, the anxiety and feeling of anticipation among the people.

News channels have started with their clips and analysis, sometimes all the news you see on the channel is related to cricket, the advetisers are out there cashing in on their expensive signings, we have our captain MSD exhorting us to participate in the Lays Flavor WC, we have Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj promoting their brands.

Sports broadcasters have started telecasting clips of famous Indian victories, the anaysts are out again analyzing patterns, making points, proving theories on why this year is India's best chance at the world cup. Everybody is on it, the astrologers, the numerologists, the expert, the analyzer, the strategist, the statistician, it seems everybody wants us to believe that this year we are gonna win, as they tried to in the previous WC, and the one before that and the one before that.
The maestro of Cricket has indicated that this may be his last world cup and has admitted to wanting to win atleast this one. The nation has started with it's prayers and best wishes for the team. Will the other 10 in the team oblige the 1 trophy that has eluded Sachin or will he end up as Bradman did?

What is all this fuss about?

Cricket is almost a religion in India - the most watched after sport in India, it has made the BCCI the richest and most power sport body in the world. This extravagenza lasting almost a month is expected to earn the sponsors and their affliates almost close to 5 billion $. Now thats a figure worth gaping at.
Me, I just hope that India does it's best, as compared to the feeble performances in the earlier versions.

  2. Yes he does, but more importantly he can't do it alone..... Can Team India do this for him and all the cricket fans out there? It's a question only time will be able to answer.
