Hacksaw Ridge - Based on the true story of a conscientious objector

A nugget of history that shows that there are different ways to serve the country and its people if only you have the passion to do so.

Based on the true story of Private Desmond Doss a conscientious objector who served in the 77th Infantry Division as a Private Field Medic and was single handedly responsible for saving 75 soldiers from Hacksaw Ridge.

Doss did not carry a weapon in the war, he refused on religious grounds and held true to his belief and faith even in face of grave peril. He went above and beyond the call of duty in saving the life of his fellow man. Doss's story is the story of triumph of humanity even when pushed to its limits in the crucible of war. His passion to serve his country shows that it is not necessary to always carry a gun or jump in front of bullets to show true courage or dedication.

Hacksaw Ridge is a story of a individual who lived to serve. The modesty of Doss is reflected in the fact that he did not allow his story to be made into a feature film while he was alive believing that the story would not be told accurately adhering to his beliefs and the actual course of actions.

The cast of Andrew Garfield as Desmond Dross, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington and Hugo Weaving have given great performances. Directly ably by Mel Gibson, this is a well crafted tale of valor, faith, courage and remaining true to one's conviction and values in face of the direst adversity.

One of the better films to watch, do yourself a favor and catch this flick.
