Tab Wars - Google Reponds

The story so far.....
Apple created two prolific market segments and is dominating them effortlessly for the lack of good competition. Traditional rivals have been left in dust, mobile companies left wondering at the double whammy and Sony has been dropped for the count. All looks rosy for the fruity tech giant....

Up Ahead: A contender emerges

With the establishment of the tablet segment, Apple married telecom with the internet. Assisted ably by the rollout of new technologies like 3G, LTE and Wi-max accessing the web was never so easy before. Apple took no prisoners and made the most of the opportunity. While Microsoft could not respond to this challenge by Apple a new company picked up the gauntlet thrown by Apple... It was somebody the industry did not expect -- Search Engine giant Google.

Seeing how Apple was able to enable the access to the internet via its devices, Google saw the potential and the threat to its domination of the search sphere. Google has always admitted that nobody can make hardware like Apple and due to the lack of good software for smart phones the major competitors of Apple like the handset manufacturers were left gasping. Google saw the opportunity and went for it. Thus came the ANDROID.

It was Google's answer to Apple's gauntlet. While Apple thrived on integrating its hardware & software in a efficient manner, Google came up with a mobile software that could be run on any hardware it needs to. This allowed Google to target companies which were looking for alternatives to Windows CE, Windows Mobile, Java and other self developed properietary systems.

In one stroke Google gained itself legions of hardware vendors like HTC, Samsung, LG, Huwaei looking to develop there own distros of ANDROID while keeping their hardware intact. Infact IOS & ANDROID can be compared to Windows & Linux of the computing world.

IOS embibes quite a few features of Windows like distribution, properietary while ANDROID represents Linux (free, open source..)

It for the reasons mentioned above that ANDROID gained so much popularity and accepatance from both the phone manufacturers and the public, so much so that currently it has a leading market share in terms of overall deployment. Phones like Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, HTC One X, Motorola Driod and even Google own collaboration with Samsung the Samsung Galaxy Nexus have gained a good stead from the markets.
