Rafa in 7th Heaven

The Emperor stamped his authority on the clay today. If anybody thought Rafa was beatable on clay - you have to be smoking weed to think so in first place - those thoughts have been laid to rest and an magnificent memorial has been erected on top of it. It says Rafael Nadal 7 times French Open Champion.

But thats not to say that the going has been easy for Rafa, for a man who did not drop a single set on his ways to the finals he was made to work very hard for the win. Even as he steamed through the first two sets and people started thinking this was going to be washout, Djokovic showed why he is the World No. 1 and possibly the only man in future who can take on Rafa on clay at FO finals. The 3rd set was won decisively by Djokovic who made Rafa work had for his points and was looking in ominous form in the 4th when he went 3 games up by breaking Rafa twice.

It looked like the game would go for a full 5 sets and the spectators would be getting their moneys worth with the game going down to the wire. But alas the rain gods intervened and the game had to be deferred to today. When the game resumed Rafa just blew away Djoko who seemed to be a bit out of touch and apprehensive. Without rains who knows a new story might have been scripted for the FO.

Anyways now that Rafa has emerged triumphant, Djoko will be setting his sights on the Olympics to get over his grief of faltering at the last hurdle at FO. If Rafa goes the Fedex way in the next couple of years who know Djokovic may finally get his wish of owning all the four Open titles at the same time coz frankly in mens tennis there are no opponents for the trifecta of Djokovich, Nadal and Federer.
