With India beating Australia in the QF's of the ongoing Cricket World Cup, they finally ended an era of domination from one of the most formidable teams in the cricketing world.
Right from 1996, when the reached the finals only to lose to Sri Lanka to 2007 where they won their 3rd consecutive title, the Aussies had made the World Cup their personal fiefdom. A string of unbeaten run 34 to be precise will remain a record for many years to come.
None of the teams have dominated an event as imperiously as they have. They brought their A game to the tournament eveytime they came out to play. But with 2 defeats in 2 matches, you can say that their domination has ended this time for sure.
Many people will be happy with the exit of the current World Champions, that ensures that atleast somebody else has a chance to lay their hands on the trophy this time around.
